Boulder County Colorado, Fatal Car Accident Facts & Statistics
Boulder County roads saw 31 fatal car accidents in 2021, resulting in 33 total deaths. Of those accidents, 10 involved impaired drivers resulting in the loss of 12 lives. As of August 2022, 18 individuals had lost their lives in 18 motor vehicle accidents on Boulder County roads since the beginning of the year. A total of eight of those accidents involved intoxicated motorists, resulting in the loss of seven lives.

As of August 2022, Boulder County has had 2,451 car accidents, 70 resulting in serious injuries. The number of car accidents in previous years are as follows:

- 2020: 3,355 (including 110 serious injury crashes)
- 2019: 5,564 (including 170 serious injury crashes)
- 2018: 5,952 (including 188 serious injury crashes)
- 2017: 6,335 (including 195 serious injury crashes)
From January 1, 2022- August 31, 2022, there have been 54 reported motorcycle accidents in Boulder County, one with suspected alcohol involvement, one with alleged marijuana involvement, and one with suspected other drug involvement. Careless driving, aggressive driving, and driver inexperience were also factors in these accidents. In 2021, Boulder County had 101 motorcycle accidents, seven resulting in DUI charges, 11 with suspected alcohol use, and one with suspected drug use.
