Weld County Colorado, Fatal Car Accident Facts & Statistics
There were 39 fatal car accidents resulting in 46 total deaths in Weld County in 2021. Of those accidents, 12 involved drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol, causing the loss of 17 lives. As of August 2022, 36 individuals had lost their lives in 27 motor vehicle accidents on Weld County roads since the beginning of the year. Six of those accidents involved intoxicated motorists, which killed six people.

As of August 2022, Weld County has had 3,510 car accidents, including 107 serious injury crashes. The number of car accidents in previous years are as follows:

In 2021, there were 102 reported motorcycle accidents in Weld County, four resulting in DUI charges, 10 with suspected alcohol involvement, and one with suspected involvement of drugs other than marijuana. Careless driving, aggressive driving, and motorcyclist inexperience were also factors in these accidents. From January 1, 2022- August 31, 2022, there were 90 motorcycle accidents in Weld County, three resulted in DUI charges, and an additional nine were suspected to involve alcohol use.
